Does Disney’s Steakhouse 71 Breakfast Still Hold Up Three Years After Opening? Fantasy Land News Review. Three years is a long time ago when it comes to Walt Disney World. While a lot stays the same, the food options seem to always be adapting and changing. On the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary, October 1st, 2021, Steakhouse 71 opened and we were lucky enough to find a reservation that opening day. We had the breakfast menu that day, and so three years later, we tried the same breakfast, and we stand behind our opinion that we had on opening day, Steakhouse 71 Breakfast is the best ala carte sitdown breakfast at Disney World.
On opening day, the Contemporary wasn’t allowing people to park who had reservations, so we had to drop someone off, drive over to the TTC, go through security, take the monorail resort loop, and barely make our reservation time. But, that minor inconvenience turned into the best Monorail ride ever! Each stop had some Disney Characters dancing and waving at us as we stopped at each resort. I remember being stopped at The GRand Floridian Resort and being scared out of my seat when I wasn’t paying attention to the outside world and Donald Duck showed up at my window and knocked!
Steakhouse 71 replaced the popular spot called The Wave, which had a breakfast buffet that people seemed to really enjoy. We never had the opportunity to eat at the restaurant, but many people lamented the closure at the time. When Steakhouse 71 opened gone were the ocean and waves and color blue that dominated the space. Replaced with a classic, return to 1971 look and feel. Almost a nod to the look and feel like Roy Disney himself could be sitting at a table across from you.
Images of the construction process of Walt Disney World, shot in black and white, lined the entrance to the lounge and check-in. The new waiting areas had retro couches along with a flashback to the late 60’s space race lighting fixtures and pictures.

Our opening day choices:
Walt’s Prime Rib Hash* Seared Prime Rib, Fried Potatoes, Caramelized Onions and Peppers topped with a Fried Egg $18.00
The only change from then to now is the potatoes, they were almost potato fingers, but now they are cubed with bits of peppers and onions which add nicely to the dish. The prime rib has never been chewy, it has always been a pleasant bit to eat and with the egg over easy the yolk drizzles into the beef and potatoes. This is my favorite breakfast at Disney World personally. Just add a dash of hot sauce and the dish is complete. Also, not stupid expensive!
I paired the dish with the Seasonal pancake which is Pumpkin, with candied pecans and cream cheese drizzle. I had never tried the seasonal pancakes at Steakhouse 71 and was super happy I did. These aren’t, let’s add Pumpkin Spice to the batter and call it a day, nope! These were true pumpkin flavors, and the cream cheese was perfect on top. The candied pecans were toasted perfectly.
Floridian Eggs Benedict* Two-poached Eggs and Crab Cake with Hollandaise atop Toasted English Muffins served with Breakfast Potatoes $19.00
Remove the ham, add crabcake and two perfectly poached eggs, and this is an almost perfect breakfast. The hollandaise sauce is almost drinkable. The only average taste on this dish is the English muffin, which could be any brand. That is not a knock on the dish because overall this is quite delicious.
If you are so inclined, you can pair these breakfast menu items with a Steakhouse Bloody Mary – Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Bloody Mary Mix, Steakhouse Seasoning – $15.00, it is your vacation after all.
