Business as Usual for Disney World and Universal after Hurricane Milton Forces Closures

Business as Usual for Disney World and Universal after Hurricane Milton Forces Closures. Between 7 and 13 inches of rain and winds peaked at 70 MPH in the central Florida theme park zone, but no real damage was caused. People were mildly inconvenienced being stuck inside their resorts. Yet, they could still enjoy themselves because of the amazing Cast Members and Team Members at both major resorts.

It could have been way worse, as predicted, during the major hurricane Milton that passed through our area on Wednesday and Thursday. We are hearing reports and have been outside ourselves and can see the damage is minimal around us. That does NOT mean some people have not suffered huge losses. While we are grateful, we also have those people in our thoughts. Once we have an official place where you can donate to help those in need we will let you know. In the mean time, the Red Cross, and the local Florida Governments have donations set up.

Today, Friday, October 11th, 2024, it is business as usual at Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World Resort. Disney will be operating under normal park hours, including Disney Springs and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. The same goes for Universal Orlando Studios and the Isle of Adventure, along with Halloween Horror Nights will go on as planned.

Walt Disney World Official Statement:

We’re grateful Walt Disney World Resort weathered the storm. Walt Disney World theme parks and Disney Springs will reopen on Friday, October 11 for the scheduled operating hours. Our hearts are with our fellow Floridians who were impacted by this storm.

Current operational impacts include:
