Hurricane Milton Expected in Central Florida – Disney World Stops Reservations for Oct 8th – 10th. As always please follow your local weather station or the National Weather Service. We are not a weather source, we are just making those people who are on vacation, or heading to Central Florida theme parks and resorts, know what to expect. You can also follow the Instagram account we personally follow Mike’s Weather Page.

What to expect, as of 11:00 AM October 6th, 2024: Tropical Storm Milton located in the western Gulf of Mexico is expected to become Hurricane Milton today or tomorrow, and will head straight to Central Florida. Some forecasts are predicting it will directly hit Tampa, Fl, and head across the state going from West to East, with Disney World and Universal directly being hit.

The good news is that theme park resorts, Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World, are some of the safest places to be during major weather events. Activities to keep people calm, backup generators to keep power, and great infrastructure keep guests safe. In fact, people normally book rooms at both resorts during a hurricane for those reasons.

Unfortunately, now it may be too late to book a room at Walt Disney World. As of 10/5, Disney has shut down new reservations at the resorts. No reservations can be made from October 8th, 2024 to October 10th, 2024. We are keeping an eye on Universal Orlando to see if they do the same.

Disney World has also stopped the theme park reservations for October 9th. This happened around 11:30 am on 10/6.

The biggest threat right now is flooding and flash flooding. The central Florida area will have rain for the next few days leading up to Hurricane Milton. As you can see below, 3 days of rain is expected. Some heavy rain is supposed to be mixed in with these preceding storms.

Again, we are not an official source to give weather advice. All we can say is we live 6 miles from Walt Disney World and want to make sure everyone is safe and prepared. Now is the time to prepare with hurricane supplies, and importantly know an evacuation route. Fill the tank with gas, and have a lot of water on hand. Be safe.

So much for us going to Epcot to watch Joey Fatone & Friends tonight and tomorrow.

Tropical Storm Milton continues to intensify in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico and is currently forecast by the National Hurricane Center (NHC) to move northeastward towards the Gulf Coast of Florida, with a possible landfall on Wednesday. However, potentially significant flooding impacts are expected well ahead of the storm as anomalously moist tropical air and instability increase south of a wavy frontal boundary draped across the Florida Peninsula.

There is now a Moderate Risk of Excessive Rainfall (level 3/4) Sunday over South Florida for a more concentrated corridor of thunderstorms producing intense downpours with totals that could exceed 5″. This will bring a more significant risk of scattered to numerous instances of flash flooding in urban areas. A Slight Risk (level 2/4) extends north along the Atlantic Coast and also west along the Gulf Coast through the central Peninsula for additional scattered instances of flash flooding.

Another Slight Risk on Monday covers the Atlantic Coast of the central Peninsula as well as the southwestern Gulf Coast and South Florida as the threat for thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall and flash flooding continues. Follow the latest forecast from the NHC for updated information on the expected track and potential impacts mid-week
