The Muppets will Celebrate 70 Years With Disney Parks Limited Edition Magnets – Weekly Drops. So we don’t know how this will work, but it appears that for the next 70 weeks, a new Muppet Magnet will drop at Disney Parks, that is according to The Muppets Instagram Account. We couldn’t be more excited about this, as we are huge Muppets fans and having Rowlf the Dog be the first one is fitting in our opinion.

Update to Add Week 5:

There is no word on what else The Muppets and Disney have planned for the 70th Anniversary of The Muppets.

“At @DisneyParks, Muppet fans can get limited-release magnets featuring all 70 characters from #TheMuppets70! Each design will be released weekly, starting with Rowlf, and will be available for 30 days after the initial release. Think you can collect all 70?!”

At the Disneyland Resort, visit a MADE kiosk at Star Trader, Ramones House of Body Art, or The Collectors Warehouse, and at the Walt Disney World Resort, stop by a MADE kiosk at Tomorrowland Launch Depot or Marketplace Co-Op. Marketplace Co-op can be found inside Disney Springs

Today marked the start of The Muppets celebrating 70 years – We’re kicking off our #TheMuppets70 celebration with our first bone-afide superstar: Rowlf the Dog! Did you know that before he was pitching puns and crooning tunes, Rowlf starred in a series of dog chow commercials? It’s the doggone truth!

Week 2: Lew Zealand! “This week, we’re putting our heart and sole into celebrating Lew Zealand! Our beloved, baffling boomerang fish thrower first debuted in season 3 of The Muppet Show. Lew may go a-way, but he always comes back to us! #TheMuppets70

Week 3: Pops! “How the time flies! We’re already spotlighting our next character for #TheMuppets70! It’s… Pops! Best known for welcoming guest stars to the theater on The Muppet Show, Pops has been in showbiz for a long, long time. How long? He can’t remember and we’ve never known.”

Week 4: Baby Skeeter from The Muppet Babies! “Twin, where have you been? Our next #TheMuppets70 spotlight is on Baby Skeeter! Skeeter, Scooter’s athletic twin sister, first appeared in 1984 on the original Muppet Babies cartoon.”

Week 5: Koozebanian Mama – Another rare character! By now, I am glad we have started collecting the Muppets 70th magnets, some of the characters do not have any merchandise associated with them, so getting something like this is awesome for collectors. FYI, the original muppet is on display at Museum of the Moving Image.

“GALLEY-OH!!!! HOOP-HOOP!!!! ❤️🧡 And now #TheMuppets70 spotlight turns to the planet Koozebane as we celebrate the Koozebanian Mama, who first appeared in 1974 on The Muppet Valentine Show.”

The Muppets, a beloved ensemble of puppet characters, have captivated audiences worldwide for decades. Created by Jim Henson, these iconic figures first appeared on television in the early 1950s on local shows in Washington, D.C. Henson’s innovative approach to puppetry, combined with his ability to create relatable and humorous characters, quickly gained popularity.

The Muppets achieved widespread fame with the television series “Sesame Street” (1969-present), where they taught children about letters, numbers, and social skills. Their ability to connect with young audiences and their adult counterparts made them household names. The Muppets also starred in their own variety show, “The Muppet Show” (1976-1981), featuring celebrity guests and showcasing their musical talents.

Henson’s legacy continues through The Muppets, which have appeared in countless films, television shows, and merchandise. From “The Muppet Movie” (1979) to “Muppets Most Wanted” (2014), these lovable characters have entertained generations of fans. The Muppets’ enduring popularity is a testament to their timeless appeal and Henson’s creative genius.

Recently released Ron Howard documentary on Jim Henson called “Idea Man” can be viewed on Disney+.
