Walt Disney World Relief Fund For Cast & Community plus $3 Million in Local Donations after Hurricane Milton
As Florida continues to recover from the devastating impact of Hurricane Milton, Disney World is stepping up to provide much-needed assistance. The company has announced a $3 million donation to several organizations working on relief efforts.
The funds will be distributed to Feeding America, the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, and local nonprofits such as World Central Kitchen and Second Harvest Food Bank. In a message to employees, Disney emphasized its commitment to helping the community recover: “We are investing $3 million to assist cast members, the local community, and nonprofits aiding in recovery efforts.”
Hurricane Milton, which made landfall on October 9th, caused widespread flooding and damage across the state. Disney World was forced to close early on the day of the storm and remained closed for an entire day afterward. Analysts estimate that this closure could cost the company up to $200 million.
During the storm, approximately 5,000 Disney employees worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of guests and the resort. Many employees sheltered in place or assisted evacuees, allowing Walt Disney World to reopen as soon as possible.
In addition to its financial contribution, Disney has also pledged to support its employees who were affected by the hurricane. The Disney Employee Relief Fund has been activated to assist employees whose homes were damaged, and the company is offering other forms of support, including repair services, mental health resources, childcare, and food and water distribution.
