Disney World Super Fan Ariana Grande Ready to Lead if Disney Changes Tower of Terror in Hollywood Studios. Change is always inevitable, but when it comes to change at Disney World, it can become quite divisive. Just look at all the fallout from the recent retheme of Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, or the future plans to remove Tom Sawyer Island. Let’s not even discuss the possibility of Muppets Vision 3D going away (it’s not).
Each of these changes, minus Lightning Mcqueen Racing Acadamy (did anyone really care about that attraction), garnered petitions on Change.org with varying signatures. Ariana Grande, a self-confessed Disney World superfan, is apparently ready to lead the charge if Disney ever changed or removed The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. According to Bowen Yang, the ‘Wicked’ star has a petition ready. Fully written, on her phone, and ready to go.
From Billboard: “On the latest episode of the Las Culturistas podcast — which featured Mariah Carey as a guest — host Bowen Yang revealed that his good friend and Wicked co-star has plans in place if Disney World ever closes down the iconic ride at its resort in Orlando, Florida. “You and Ariana Grande have the same feeling about Tower of Terror,” the comedian began after Mimi said that the haunted hotel-themed exhibit was “truly a classic.” It’s refreshing to know that celebrities can have the same simple joys as us, like a trip to Disney World.
“She has written an entire Notes app statement, a petition basically, to Disney that she has saved,” Yang continued of Grande. “She is like, ‘If you do anything to Tower of Terror in Orlando…’” “There will be a revolt,” finished co-host Matt Rogers
Hearing this reminded us of the outcry from fans who repeatedly said “Disney was ruining the magic” when even the billboard advertising the Tower of Terror was removed 2 years ago from World Drive in Walt Disney World.
The Hollywood Tower Hotel is the Icon of Disney’s Hollywood Studios standing 199′, where guests hurtle up and down aboard a haunted, elevator-themed ride. Shriek in terror as you suddenly hurl down the abandoned shaft that unexpectedly changes direction and launches back up the hotel. Gaze out through a missing wall 13 stories high as the doors inexplicably open and close to reveal the hotel grounds. As if possessed by some unseen phantom, plummet down and speed upward over and over again, the sound of cables snapping and metal clanging overhead.
