Fixed and Returned! Muppet Labs Photo Op is Back in Odyssey Pavilion 1 Month After Removal. Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival presented by Corkcicle started on August 29th, 2024 and we were there on opening day enjoying all the new menu items, hunting for Remy’s, and for me, it was all about checking out The Muppet Labs inside the Brew Wing at the Odyssey pavilion.
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his assistant Beaker have created new menu items like the Pickle Milkshake, and the Unnecessarily Spicy Yet Extremely Tasty Carolina Reaper Pepper Curry Wings. Disney Imagineers had created a fun spot to cool off in some A/C and check out Muppet easter eggs, watch a few-minute video of Dr Bunsen Honeydew and his assistant Beaker, and our favorite was the Photo Op—the new photo op, with multiple easter eggs and callbacks to past The Muppets movies and shows. You can see below how the new photo op looked on Thursday and Friday, August 29th and 30th.
Unfortunately, on the second day, after opening, the photo op was ruined by a few unattended kids and a child who and I quote “Went tornado, while his parents watched and they did not stop him”, we also got reports of adults also getting too handsy with the props. When the photo op was originally set up, there was a way to walk into the middle of the scene and act like you were behind the desk. Plus with all the bright colors and cool props, of course, people were gonna touch it. Furthermore, there was no cast member or Disney Photopass Cast Member to stop people from doing so.
Now, over a month after being removed, the photo op is back in Muppet Labs at the Brew Wing. There are a few differences, like no more going behind the stanchions to the desk, the whole scene is now closed off from touching. It is still found in the back area of the seating section.
While the photo op was removed a Disney Cast Member was located in that spot and was handing out stickers and buttons. We do not know if they will continue handing out these now that the photo op is back.
