CommuniCore Hall and Plaza Lights Up World Celebration (and it may be too much). Mother’s Day at Walt Disney World is an experience we hope every Mother gets to experience at least one time. The atmosphere, the beauty, the special magic shots, and the characters. It is all very surreal. What sets Epcot apart though is the new World Celebration area.
Epcot makes the perfect backdrop for any celebration. So, that is what we did. Our Mother’s Day evening at Epcot was a perfect evening out. When we walked into the park, the first thing we got to experience was Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse meeting and greeting together. Not an odd thing to see at Disney World, except this was at 7:00 PM, and they were together. On a daily basis, you will only see Minnie Mouse meeting and greeting guests under Spaceship Earth.

What stood out was the new lights on CommuniCore Hall & Plaza in World Celebration. The new building, outdoor concert space, and festival area were lit up beautifully last night. What stood out though was the colors. It wasn’t what we were expecting. We figured it would be mostly primary colors of the rainbow, and what we got was a very pastel looking lighting package. Which made it stand out way more, and look better than we expected.
This may also be a small issue. While the light package looks beautiful, it is also very distracting while standing in the middle of the World Celebration gardens. Your eyes are drawn to the building. We stood back by the Figment topiary last night, and even with Spaceship Earth fully aglow, and brightly lit in front of us, our eyes were drawn and distracted by how bright the new building was.
Again, this does not mean it isn’t beautiful and well done, just is distracting. This is our opinion, and you should definitely go see if for yourself. Let us know what you think.
EPCOTians everywhere know that the park has been undergoing the largest transformation in its history, and each new element that we’ve unveiled has brought us closer and closer to a fully reimagined EPCOT. Remember that gorgeous new fountain and welcoming front entrance? Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure? Creations Shop? The lights on Spaceship Earth? Space 220 Restaurant? Connections Café & Eatery? Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind? Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana? Walt the Dreamer? AND MORE?! Yes, EPCOT has seen a lot of cool changes … and starting June 10, we’re ready to debut the finishing touches of this grand transformation with extra summer fun.
